Download Button Settings ​

The Download button settings page allows you to embed customer-facing PDF download buttons on your Shopify Storefront (Thank You Page, Customer Account Page) and inside official Shopify transactional notification emails.

Documnet Scope Tabs ​

Switch between document scopes using the top tab bar:

  • Order: Configure storefront download buttons and email embed snippet codes for standard placed orders.

  • Draft invoice: Access custom HTML embed codes to insert PDF download buttons into Shopify draft order invoice notifications.

Storefront Download Button Integration Guide ​

This guide walks you through configuring and placing customer-facing PDF download buttons on your Shopify Storefront using the Shopify Checkout & Account Editor.

Accessing the Editor ​

  1. Go to Settings > Download button in the EZ Order Printer app.

  2. Next to Thank you page or Customer account, click Customize.

  3. You will be redirected to the Shopify Editor interface for storefront app blocks.

Adding App Blocks to Storefront Pages ​

You can embed the EZ - Order Printer download block across three main customer-facing locations:

1. Thank You Page Setup ​

  • In the left panel under Apps, locate EZ - Order Printer.

  • Click the + (Add) icon next to the app name.

  • Select Thank you from the Add to dropdown menu.

  • The Download Invoice button block will be inserted onto the post-checkout confirmation page.

  • Click Save in the top-right corner to publish changes.

2. Customer Account Orders Page Setup ​

  • In the left panel, click the + (Add) icon next to EZ - Order Printer.

  • Select Orders from the Add to menu.

  • The Download Invoice button will appear next to order items on the customer account order history list page.

  • Click Save in the top-right corner.

3. Customer Account Order Status Page Setup ​

  • In the left panel, click the + (Add) icon next to EZ - Order Printer.

  • Select Order status from the Add to menu.

  • The Download Invoice button will be embedded on the detailed single-order status overview page.

  • Click Save in the top-right corner.

Customizing Block Appearance ​

When an app block is selected, use the Block settings sidebar on the right to customize button styling:

  • Button Width: Select custom width options for the button element.

  • Button Variant: Choose the visual style (e.g., Primary, Secondary, Outline).

  • Button Tone: Adjust the color tone applied to the button background.

  • Button Icon: Toggle True or False to show or hide the printer/download icon on the button face.

  • Align Items: Set custom horizontal alignment (Left, Center, Right) for button layout inside the block container.

  • Remove block: Click Remove block at the bottom of the settings panel to delete the download button from the page location.

Save Required

Always click Save in the upper-right corner of the Shopify Editor after adding or modifying blocks to apply updates live on your storefront.

Classic Customer Account Integration Guide ​

If your store is using Shopify's Classic Customer Account pages (theme-based order history), you can enable PDF download links using Shopify Theme App Embeds.

Enabling App Embed in Theme Editor ​

  1. In the EZ Order Printer app, navigate to Settings > Download button.
  2. Locate the Online store section for Classic customer account and click Go to Theme Editor.
  3. You will be redirected directly to your active theme's App embeds configuration panel in Shopify Theme Editor.
  4. Enable the main toggle switch for Order documents (EZ Order Printer).

Configuring Available Documents & Appearance ​

Once the Order documents app embed is toggled on, configure which document types customers can access in their account order history:

1. Appearance Style ​

Select how the download actions render on your customer account order pages:

  • Buttons: Displays individual download action buttons for each document type.
  • Links: Renders clean, text-based hyperlinks for downloading documents.

2. Document Type Toggles ​

Toggle individual switches to show or hide download links for specific document types:

  • Invoice: Toggle to enable/disable PDF invoice downloads.
  • Packing slip: Toggle to allow buyers to download packing slips.
  • Credit note: Toggle to show credit note download options (Note: Only rendered on orders that have processed refunds).
  • Credit note: Toggle to show credit note download options (Note: Only rendered on orders that have processed refunds).

Saving Configuration ​

Click Save in the top-right corner of the Shopify Theme Editor to activate the App Embed live on your storefront.

Classic vs New Accounts

This setup applies exclusively to stores using Classic Customer Accounts managed through theme templates. If your store uses Shopify's New Customer Accounts, use the Checkout & Account Editor app blocks setup instead.

Shopify POS Integration ​

The Point of Sale (POS) integration allows retail staff to print dynamic invoices, receipts, and order documents directly from the Shopify POS application on mobile or tablet devices.

By activating the Print with EZ Order Printer tile extension, store staff can trigger document printing seamlessly from the POS order details screen during or after in-person retail checkout.

Enabling POS Extension ​

To set up and activate EZ Order Printer within your Shopify POS app:

  1. In the EZ Order Printer admin, navigate to Settings > Download button (or the Point of Sale configuration section).
  2. Under Point of Sale, locate Order details and click Configure.
  3. You will be redirected to the Shopify POS Editor interface (Apps for Point of Sale).
  4. In the left panel under EZ Order Printer, select Print with EZ Order Printer.
  5. In the right panel, toggle the Activate on switch to ON to enable the extension on the Order details screen.
  6. Click Save in the top-right corner to publish changes to your POS devices.

POS Extension Settings ​

When configuring the POS tile extension:

  • Print with EZ Order Printer: The official app extension embedded into the POS UI.
  • Activate on: Controls screen placement:
    • Order details: Adds the print action button directly into the order details view within the Shopify POS app.
  • Manage app: Quick link to manage app permissions and POS integration settings.

Printing Documents on Shopify POS ​

Once enabled, retail staff can print documents in a few taps:

  1. Open the Shopify POS app on your register or tablet.
  2. Complete a retail sale or select an existing order under Orders.
  3. On the Order details screen, tap the Apps or Action extension menu.
  4. Select Print with EZ Order Printer to generate and print the selected document template via your connected receipt/thermal printer.

Multi-Location Support

Once saved, the POS app extension becomes available across all active POS registers and staff accounts connected to your Shopify store.

Allows you to insert a custom Download invoice button inside official Shopify Order Confirmation emails using HTML code.

Why embed the button in Shopify's email?

Shopify already emails your customers about their orders, and its order confirmation email can't be turned off. Adding the download button to that email gives customers their documents in one email, instead of a Shopify email plus a separate EZ Order Printer email.   • Customize: Opens styling settings to adjust button background color, font size, and text alignment.

  • Preview Box: Shows a live preview of how the button will render inside customer emails.

  • HTML Snippet Code: Copy the provided code block and manually paste it into your Shopify Email Notification templates (Shopify Admin > Settings > Notifications > Order confirmation).

Customizing the Order Email Download Button ​

Clicking Customize next to Embed link to Shopify order confirmation email opens the Edit download button editor interface. Here you can visually customize the button aesthetics and copy the dynamically generated HTML code:

1. Document Types & Label Customization ​

Select which document buttons to include and set custom button text labels:

  • Invoice: Check to generate an invoice download button and customize its button label (default: Download invoice).
  • Packing slip: Check to include a packing slip download button.
  • Refund receipt: Check to include a refund receipt button.
  • Return slip: Check to include a return slip button.

2. Visual Styling & Branding ​

  • Color: Choose the text color for the button label.
  • Background color: Select the background fill color for the button.
  • Show icon: Toggle to display or hide the printer icon alongside the text label.
  • Button style: Select the button visual style variant (Primary, Secondary, etc.).
  • Button alignment: Set the horizontal alignment for the button container (Left, Center, Right).

3. Real-Time Preview & Raw HTML Code ​

  • Language Tab: Displays the current target language locale (e.g., English).
  • Live Preview: Renders an accurate, real-time preview of the customized button.
  • Raw HTML code: Automatically updates with clean HTML/Liquid code based on your styling choices. Click the Copy icon in the top-right corner of the code block to copy the generated snippet.

Implementation Steps

  1. Customize the button styling and labels in the left panel.
  2. Click the Copy icon on the Raw HTML code box.
  3. Open your Shopify Admin and navigate to Settings > Notifications > Order confirmation.
  4. Paste the copied code snippet into your email template code where you want the download button to appear.

Draft Invoice Download Options ​

When the Draft invoice tab is selected, you can copy the specific embed snippet designed for draft order notifications:

Generates an HTML snippet to place a Download invoice button inside Shopify Draft Order invoice emails (Shopify Admin > Settings > Notifications > Draft order invoice).

  • Customize: Modify button aesthetics (e.g., text alignment, padding, and colors).

  • HTML Snippet Code: Copy the generated Liquid code and paste it into your Shopify draft order email template.

Manual Integration Notice

The embed snippet code must be manually pasted into your Shopify Notification templates. Click the Copy icon on the top-right corner of the code box to grab the entire snippet in one click.

Customizing the Draft Invoice Email Download Button ​

Clicking Customize next to Embed link to Shopify draft order invoice email opens the Edit draft invoice download button configuration page. This screen allows you to design the appearance of the button and generate the corresponding HTML code snippet for draft order notifications:

1. Button Label & Styling Options ​

Customize the visual properties of the draft invoice download button:

  • Button Label Input: Enter custom button text (default: Download invoice).
  • Color: Choose the label text color.
  • Background color: Set the fill color for the button background.
  • Show icon: Check or uncheck to show or hide the printer icon on the button face.
  • Button style: Select the button visual variant (Primary, Secondary, etc.).
  • Button alignment: Set the layout alignment inside the email (Left, Center, Right).

2. Real-Time Preview & Raw HTML Code ​

  • Language Badge: Indicates the active locale for the button text (e.g., English).
  • Live Preview: Displays an immediate preview of the button design.
  • Raw HTML code: Automatically generates clean HTML/Liquid code populated with the dynamic parameter draft_order_id=. Click the Copy icon in the top-right corner of the code block to copy the full snippet.

Integration Instructions

  1. Customize the button styling using the options on the left.
  2. Click the Copy icon on the Raw HTML code box.
  3. In Shopify Admin, navigate to Settings > Notifications > Draft order invoice.
  4. Paste the copied HTML snippet into the notification email template code where you want the button to appear.
